Internships enable students to apply acquired skills in a variety of professional environments, including design studios, architectural firms, retail establishments, to-the-trade organizations, and manufacturing firms .
Students prepare for the internship experience by taking the Pre-Internship Seminar class during the fall semester of the third year. The internship is completed the following summer at a location and firm selected by the student and approved by the faculty advisor. The student must register for the two-credit Internship course, DSNI 392, and must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work on-site in the field.
Radford University interior design students have completed internships at sites in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, and the District of Columbia.
